About Us: The ECSJ Mission & Operations |
 MISSION
The Enrichment Co-op of South Jersey provides a non-religious, inclusive, diverse environment in which students can come together to learn, socialize and play in a friendly setting. It is our philosophy that childhood should be a time of fun, warmth, security, exploration and discovery. This co-op strives to nurture and encourage the qualities of creativity and individuality. Our goal is to provide an atmosphere that encourages social, emotional, physical and intellectual growth and development of the child as a whole. We are a diverse group of individuals who work together to reach this goal.
OPERATIONS
The ECSJ offers a variety of classes in different subjects for children at preschool, elementary, intermediate and high school levels. We base our classes on members’ offerings.
Our co-op runs on a volunteer basis. All members sign up for jobs to keep the co-op running smoothly. Signup for a volunteer position is done at registration. Jobs range from administrative duties to assisting in classes. To participate in co-op, every family* must have and fulfill at least one volunteer position on a continuing basis. Failure to do so will be considered an infraction of the rules and be treated as such. If any member has a problem performing their job at any time, it is that individual’s responsibility to ensure that the job is covered.
Each family is also responsible for a designated number of setups and breakdowns, based on the number of families that register each year. Families who find it difficult to fulfill this obligation have the option to pay into the setup and breakdown fund: $5 for each setup and $10 for each breakdown. This money will be paid to a family who is willing to do the setup or breakdown. The money is due by Orientation Day and is paid to the Treasurer, who will be responsible for dispersing the funds. (This option is available for the setup and breakdown jobs only, not the other volunteer positions.) |
